At the boundary between fine grit finishing stone and medium grit workhorse, this Naniwa Professional 3000 water stone can fill several roles in the typical sharpening progression.

The Professional Stones (Chosera) are well regarded for cutting quickly, polishing to a high level or refinement, dishing slowly, and providing a pleasant feel while sharpening. A quick soak or splash of water is recommended for everyday use. Don’t soak them in the water too long.
